If your car or truck won’t start but your lights still function just fine, then maybe it’s time for a starter replacement. If you’re located in the Houston area, call us now for immediate assistance.

Vehicle Engine Won’t Turn Over But Battery Good?

When handling vehicle starter challenges, it typically requires an engine diagnostic. From ignition to starter to battery, there are numerous components in the ignition system, so finding the right cause of failure is absolutely crucial.

What is a Car Engine Starter?

“A car starter is a powerful electric motor that cranks your engine in order to start your car. The starting system consists of the motor itself, and the attached solenoid. The solenoid is what takes battery power and delivers it to the starter motor. It also pushes the starter gear forward, allowing it to mesh with the gear teeth of the engine’s flywheel. A high current is needed to start your car, so your battery has to have enough “juice” to enable the car starting system to work properly. Most of the time, when a car won’t start and the battery is fully charged, the starter motor is to blame. Starters do wear out.” *

Car or Truck Starter Problems – Frequently Asked Questions

Comprehending the specific nuances about car starter replacement and issues is not for everyone. Nevertheless, here are some of the most frequently asked questions we get when a car won’t start but your lights still come on.

What is the Cost For a Car Starter Replacement?

As starter systems vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, there is no set price for every service center or brand. When you call us, however, be sure to have your make, model, year, and trim level on hand. Even so, it will need a diagnostic to provide an estimate.

What Does a Bad Starter Sound Like?

Unfortunately, a faulty car starter can make a variety of sounds. These often range from overly loud clicking sounds to high-pitched screeching, or an unpleasant grinding noise to intermittent whirring. Even when the battery is good, you might turn the key in the ignition and still hear no sound at all. This is because of the various components that make up an engine starter system.

How to Tell if Your Mazda Starter is Going Bad?

When checking to see if a Mazda vehicle starter is needs replacement, every auto mechanic, factory-trained or not, should begin with a battery test. Typically speaking, batteries need to be changed out far more often than your car starter. This is easily done with a load tester or battery tester. If it’s working properly, it’s still always possible that the problem is neutral safety switch, theft immobilizer, relay fuse, battery connections, or computer. As always, your best source is your local Mazda service center. Short of actually removing and testing the broken starter, a diagnosis generally incorporates a process of elimination.

I cannot say enough great things about this place! We had Warren helping us out and he was amazing! Everyone in the building was friendly. The whole transaction from trading in my car to getting the other car was smooth and wayyy less painful than other times/places. The finance manager was also great and the paperwork process was mostly digital which was great also. Definitely recommend going here if you’re looking for a new or used vehicle!

I bought a car this week from Team Gillman, and a first-time buyer I felt no pressure and all respect from Blake and his sales manager, Andy. I knew what I wanted before getting to the dealership and at no point did I feel pressured or like I was not going to end up with a great deal. I look forward to coming back to Team Gillman in the future!

All the staff here was amazing and so helpful. Firstly to start with Lavonda who was the sales person that assisted me with test driving the vehicle I was interested in. She was nothing but respectful and took me around showing me the departments as well as all the bells and whistles in my new car. Then Byron the finance director was so understanding and respectful. He made sure I understood every part of my contract and genuinely helped me feel like he was their to help me get the best deal. I can't speak anymore highly of him. And ...
