2019 Mazda CX-5 Signature AWD vs 2019 Nissan Rogue SL AWD

While some automakers have been gone the route of increasing horsepower for straight-line speed that has never been Mazda’s style. They prefer to offer a complete driving experience that mixes performance and handling. The 2019 Mazda CX-5 builds on that foundation and adds more performance and luxury options.

What’s new in 2019?

  • Turbocharged 2.5L 4-cylinder (Signature Trim)
  • Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto compatibility
  • Ventilated front seats

On the performance side Mazda now offers a turbocharged 2.5L 4-cylinder engine that dwarfs the 2019 Nissan Rogue in both horsepower and torque. The 2019 Mazda CX-5 Signature features 80hp more than the Rogue, and 135 more torque. Coupled with the G-Vectoring Control Plus and AWD, the Mazda is the SUV for the driver. So where does that leave the 2019 Mazda CX-5 vs Nissan Rogue SL when it comes to performance? Mazda’s slogan is ‘Driving Matters’ and driving is right where the CX-5 shines.

The 2019 Mazda CX-5 was built to offer the driver a new level of elegance. The new Signature trim level offers genuine layered wood trim and Nappa leather seats to an already refined cabin. The 2019 Nissan Rogue does offer leather-appointed seats, but the overall presentation is a bit lower than the 2019 Mazda CX-5. Easily the best part about the 2019 Mazda CX-5 is the driving experience, nothing else in the segment can offer a mix of fun and utility. The 2019 Nissan Rogue has more cargo capacity and is more of a true utility vehicle, but it is nowhere near as entertaining to drive.

Both vehicles come with Adaptive Cruise Control, Keyless Start, Power Liftgate, and Smart Device Integration. What separates the two vehicles is that the 2019 Mazda CX-5 has loads of standard features not even available on the Rogue. Some of these items include Cooled Front Seats, Cross-Traffic Alert, Heads-Up Display, Rear Parking Aid and Rain Sensing Wipers. As Mazda says, ‘Driving Matters’ so the best advice we can give is to drive the new 2019 Mazda CX-5 for yourself.
