Combined, it delivers up to 323 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque, utilizing the recommended Premium 91-octane fuel. Electric energy is fed through a 17.8-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery pack that can be recharged through a port located on the rear passenger-side fender. It can be recharged at a Level 2 charging station from 20% to 80% state of charge in one hour and 30 minutes.
This plug-in hybrid driveline is also paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, and a rear-biased i-ACTIV all-wheel drive (AWD) system is standard. This driveline can yield an electric-only driving range of 27 miles, which yields a maximum estimated driving range of 500 miles. However, the EPA estimates 2026 CX-90 PHEV models at 26 MPG combined and a rated 56 MPGe.
The 2026 CX-90 PHEV’s four-wheel independent suspension features a double-wishbone strut setup in front and a multilink setup in the rear. Not only do you get the handling and cornering you expect in a Mazda, but also a smooth ride for you and your family. The 2026 CX-90 PHEV also comes with Electronic Power Assist Steering, along with four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes.
Exterior
The 2026 CX-90 PHEV is made to bring the family together. It starts with a look born from the Kodo design language, which is found across the Mazda lineup. The driver gets a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster. You can customize the type of readouts you want to see. The Premium Sport and Premium Plus models add an Active Driving Display projected on the windshield. This display includes traffic sign recognition, which helps when keeping your eyes on the road.
The doors open wide for easier ingress and egress. The liftgate also opens high for better loading and unloading of cargo. There is up to 15.9 cubic feet of space behind the third row of seats, expandable to a maximum of 40.1 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row of seats. Fold both the second and third row seats down, and cargo space expands to 75.2 cubic feet.
Technology
The Mazda Connect Infotainment System starts with a Multifunction Commander knob on the center console, along with associated buttons and additional controls on the steering wheel. It all controls the 12.3-inch full-color display on top of the center stack. Wireless smartphone compatibility is standard on Premium Sport and Premium Plus models. Alexa Built-in and wireless smartphone charging are standard on all 2026 CX-90 PHEV models.
Bose offers a 12-speaker Centerpoint surround sound audio system on Premium Sport and Premium Plus models. This delivers a superb sound throughout the cabin.
